Renfrewshire Council

Renfrewshire_council_guardian24Following the recent Charter Mark of Excellence being awarded to the Anti Social Investigation Team and Mediation Service of Renfrewshire Council we have obtained a brief interview with the manager who played a large part in ensuring the criteria required was met by his services.

1. What is your role within your organization?

I am the manager of the Anti Social Investigation Team and Mediation Service

2. How long have you been in this post?

4 years 6 months

3. Please give details of your responsibilities and job on a daily basis.

I oversee the operations of the investigations service, youth officers, mediators and anti social behaviour helpline. I have two coordinators who assist me with these functions.

4. What risks do the Guardian24 users face?
The same as any lone worker although at times we can be faced with very irate people given we that are investigating Anti Social Behaviour, people can eventually have ASBOs granted against them and/or be evicted from their home.

5. What made you apply for this award?

Our department (Housing & Property Services) has an ongoing quality and excellence programme of which this is part.

6. How did the implementation of Guardian24 assist you in achieving this award?

Guardian24 formed part of our evidence which the Charter Mark assessor reviewed. He marked out our use of the system as 'best practice' which in essence means going beyond the standard required.

7. What would you say to others who are concerned about their lone workers?

Lone working systems like G24 give staff piece of mind whilst carrying out their duties. For managers like myself who are responsible for staff personal safety it means that I can be assured that systems are in place to protect my staff to the best of my organisations ability.
